Silicone Lubricants

Unlike water-based lubricants,Silicone Lubricants have some extra qualities that attract users.

Silicone is a material made from alternate chains of silicon (a natural element) and oxygen atoms. It can come in many forms including rubber, resin and oil — those different forms make it great for everything from medical applications to insulation. Its liquid form is especially effective when used as the main ingredient in personal lubricants.

What makes silicone-based lubes so great? For one, they have a very unique, silky feel that is soothing to the skin and leaves it feeling soft and smooth. Silicone is also non allergenic, so it’s a great choice for lube users with sensitive skin or allergies.

Silicone lubricants last longer than water-based lubricants, and can be used while you’re in the hot tub or shower. They are latex-friendly and generally toy friendly, except when used with Silicone Toys/Massagers. The silicone in the lubricant will adhere to the silicone in your toy, and you will have a sticky mess on your hands,(as well as a ruined toy).

Here are some great  choices of silicone lubricant from our pages.

Extra attention should be given to “clean-up” after using silicone lubricants. While water-based lubricants can simply be washed off with water, silicone lubricants require specific clean-up with soap and water.

Sexual fluids (protein) an also combine with the silicone to create stains on your sheets or clothing. If you do find yourself with a silicone-based lube stain on your sheets or clothing, try to treat it as soon as you can, as fresher stains will be more likely to come out than set-in ones.

As for what to treat those stains with? Citrus degreasers are one good choice, as are carburator treatment products. No…we’re not making this up.
